National day
Designated date on which celebrations mark the nationhood of a nation

A national day celebrates a state's statehood or its people, often marking important events like independence, becoming a republic, or forming a federation. These days may also honor a patron saint or a ruler’s significant date such as an accession. Typically designated as an official public holiday, many nations observe more than one national day. Notably, Denmark and the United Kingdom lack an official national day, though Denmark celebrates an unofficial Constitution Day. National days, also called Independence Day, Liberation Day, or Republic Day, largely emerged during the 19th and 20th centuries amid rising nationalism.
