2005 NFL draft
70th annual meeting of National Football League franchises to select newly eligible players

The 2005 NFL draft, the 70th in league history, occurred April 23–24 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, marking the first time it was held there instead of Madison Square Garden. Televised on ESPN and ESPN2, it’s notable for quarterback Aaron Rodgers slipping to 24th pick after the 49ers chose Alex Smith first overall, with Rodgers eventually picked by the Packers. The draft included 255 players across many positions, such as 36 linebackers, 31 wide receivers, and 14 quarterbacks, and featured compensatory and supplemental drafts.
