<p>Bayan-Ölgii is the westernmost of the 21 <a href="/facts/Aimags_of_Mongolia/VyUyTbTL">aimags</a> (provinces) of <a href="/facts/Mongolia/ogQzUcQb">Mongolia</a>. The country's only <a href="/facts/Islam_in_Mongolia/r9MbNyHC">Muslim</a> and <a href="/facts/Kazakh_people/kHVGSwkc">Kazakh</a>-majority aimag, it was established in August 1940. Its capital is <a href="/facts/%C3%96lgii_(city)/7MWf9qAX">Ölgii</a>. </p>
