<p>SecureDrop is a <a href="/facts/Free_software/IaoVtJXn">free software</a> platform for <a href="/facts/Secure_communication/XkAkCLM8">secure communication</a> between <a href="/facts/Journalist/LADe3dzs">journalists</a> and <a href="/facts/Source_(journalism)/MqIXEfJw">sources</a> (<a href="/facts/Whistleblower/Ah5QHEW1">whistleblowers</a>). It was originally designed and developed by <a href="/facts/Aaron_Swartz/B2cBbonE">Aaron Swartz</a> and <a href="/facts/Kevin_Poulsen/vx8rneox">Kevin Poulsen</a> under the name <i>DeadDrop</i>. <a href="/facts/James_Dolan_(computer_security_expert)/VXbRdxTf">James Dolan</a> also co-created the software. </p>
