They were produced independently by <a href="/facts/Vladimir_Levenshtein/hGbzUR8e">Vladimir Levenshtein</a> and by <a href="/facts/John_Horton_Conway/g3PA1zoK">John Horton Conway</a> and <a href="/facts/Neil_Sloane/kLWw29Me">Neil Sloane</a>. The binary lexicographic codes are <a href="/facts/Linear_code/HoFI3eyF">linear codes</a>, and include the <a href="/facts/Hamming_code/zsI8cTRC">Hamming codes</a> and the <a href="/facts/Binary_Golay_code/UY04RQEC">binary Golay codes</a>. </p>
