It is common for people to rely on their own intuitions about language learning, though they would not do so with other technical subjects such as <a href="/facts/Physics/a7aH2y08">physics</a> (a phenomenon known as <i><a href="/facts/Folk_linguistics/NgUvUzdt">folk linguistics</a></i>).
