Psagot

Psagot is an <a href="/facts/Israeli_settlement/vSrw9ylS">Israeli settlement</a> in the <a href="/facts/West_Bank/xzTTVNJl">West Bank</a>, located on Tawil hill, adjacent to the <a href="/facts/State_of_Palestine/WWcc0vRx">Palestinian</a> cities of <a href="/facts/Ramallah/HVPrByBz">Ramallah</a> and <a href="/facts/Al-Bireh/NKT8FzgM">al-Bireh</a>. Established in 1981, it is organised as a <a href="/facts/Community_settlement_(Israel)/FdM0Co6A">community settlement</a> and falls under the jurisdiction of <a href="/facts/Mateh_Binyamin_Regional_Council/CkBrgjtQ">Binyamin Regional Council</a>, with the council's <a href="/facts/Headquarter/5rUlMcoP">headquarters</a> located there. In 2022 it had a population of 2,086.
The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank <a href="/facts/International_law_and_Israeli_settlements/wkvxfFR5">illegal under international law</a>, but the Israeli government disputes this.
The Israeli Psagot Winery was established in the settlement on privately owned Palestinian land; a demolition order (<a href="/facts/Coordinator_of_Government_Activities_in_the_Territories/v0p6H8AB">COGAT Order</a> 252/03) was issued by the Israeli authorities against the winery as, even under Israeli law, the Israeli building over privately-owned land was illegal. As of 2019, the order had yet to be enforced.
