<h2 id="history">History</h2> <p>The first diesel-powered motorships were launched in 1903: the Russian <a href="/facts/Vandal_(tanker)/RuAnLEm2"><i>Vandal</i></a> (the first equipped with diesel-electric transmission) and French <i>Petite-Pierre</i>.
